Preparing the Race Committee Boats
Fuel
Gas for the RC boats can be found in the metal storage cabinets at the mooring docks. The storage cabinet key is located in the RC closet. You may need to fill the containers used on the boats from the larger containers used for purchasing fuel. In this storage cabinet you should also find fuel lines. The fuel line for the RC (Pontoon) boat is permanently mounted on the boat.

Keys
The keys for the motors can
be found clipped to the storage basket. You will need to insert the
red safety clip on the
emergency stop switch before attempting to start the engine.
Support boats and RC boat should contain the following equipment:
· Ladder
· Boat hook
· tow line
· Marks and or starting pin.
· Anchors and ropes for each mark and pin
· Radio
· Blanket
· Life jackets for each person on the boat and two more for rescue use
· One throwable flotation cushion
Starting the motors on the RC boats:
For the first start of the day you will typically need to prime the engine by squeezing the rubber bulb (shown in the photo on the left, below) in the fuel line. Then set the choke by raising the lever above the key on the ignition switch (photo on right, below). The motor should start when you turn the key and engage the starter the way you do in an automobile. Once the motor starts you can reduce the choke setting to slow down the idle speed. After the motor has warmed up you will most likely not need the choke to re-start. Open the gas can vent, located on the gas cap, turn the vent screw counter clock wise to open.
